The last month has been a mixed bag. In early 2024, I took on a second job to supplement my income between getting paid for development because development pay can be watching-paint-dry slow (which is another substack post). That second job did layoffs in late July. I can’t get into the particulars as there’s a class action lawsuit I’m not a part of but out of respect for coworkers who are and I hope they get what they need. With that said, I was emotionally relieved to be laid off BUT I was worried financially. But at the same time, I felt a zen about the whole process. I would survive and not just survive and thrive in finding the next thing.
Then recently two different people sent me the Mel Robbins podcast. I haven’t listened to the episodes in a specific order but I came across an older episode with a theme I found resonant about thanking yourself and the implied self-worth in doing that. The episode is linked below.
